We all have different relationships with our mothers and I’m finding as I am aging, that I often reflect on how it is shaped who I am today. Maybe you are too. My Mum was instrumental in my textile journey, she passed away in 2017, and my life has been too crazy to really process her loss (another story for another time). One gift she left behind for me that was a box of her templates and patterns that she used to teach beginner quilters – myself included!
I have an idea that blossomed when I did my very first “live” on Instagram. Thanks to all of you who joined me! It was so great to interact that way and have direct feedback to my process. I am going to sew my way through these patterns and create The Dear Mom Project. I will re-draft these patterns and create instructions for them. I’m still working out the details of how I will distribute them – a Block of the Month program, a Quilt along, a membership? I’m not sure yet. But I plan to sew each and every one and there are over 80 block designs.
It became apparent through this live session though, that I would be so much happier with more interaction. I want to see what you are working on too!
I want to build a community where we can work on projects and share stories.
So, won’t you join me?
There are only 30 spaces, I’d like to keep this somewhat intimate so we can really connect. Come with your own stitching and stories, a glass of your favourite beverage and let’s slow down for an hour.
(You will get a zoom link when you complete the RSVP registration.)
